About Us

 An idea for a pet boarding facility was born from Veterinarian Greta Stamberg, DVM.  She built and operated Clarksburg Animal Hospital for 23years and perpetually heard concerns and feedback from clients about leaving their dog and cat family members when they had to travel. As dogs and cats became more integrated into our lives, we needed to feel comfortable knowing their pets were in good hands while we are away. Everyone wanted the opportunity to check in on their pets without feeling like they were a nuisance, to get regular updates each day and to have a facility that was healthy, safe and not a cage or a kennel. The vision for Amethyst Pet Hotel was born.

Greta's husband Dewey has experience managing and helping with construction and they worked together to design a facility that skillfully met the needs of pets away from home. After 2 years of searching, they purchased a farm that met the vision and started work to bring it to fruition. All aspects of design and operations have met the perspectives of both the humans and pets we serve. We can confidently say that there is no place quite like Amethyst Pet Hotel in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia areas.

 

We truly strive to make it feel more like a home than a kennel in as many ways as possible.
