About Us

 An idea for a pet boarding facility was born from a Veterinarian, Greta Stamberg, DVM, who has heard decades of concerns and feedback from clients about leaving their dog and cat family members when they travel. There needed to be a better way for the humans to feel more comfortable knowing their pets were in good hands. Everyone wanted the opportunity to check in on their pets without feeling like they were a nuisance, to get regular updates on the day and to have a facility that was healthy, safe and not a cage or a kennel.

Greta's husband Dewey has experience managing and helping with construction and they both managed to design a facility that met the needs of pets away from home. We found a farm that met our needs for the place we envisioned and Amethyst Pet Hotel was born. All aspects of design and operations have kept the perspectives of both the humans and pets in mind. There is no place quite like Amethyst Pet Hotel in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia areas.

 

We truly strive to make it feel more like a home than a kennel in as many ways as possible.
