Luxury Dog and Cat Boarding

A veterinarian inspired by years of feedback from clients envisioned a more comforting place for dogs and cats to stay while you are away. We provide what you want for your dogs and cats when you have to leave them.

Your dogs and cats will be cage free and kennel free and stay in a room that feels like a home environment designed to keep them feeling calm.

You receive daily report cards and have 24/7 access to a camera in their Suite and information about activity and sleep from their tracking collar.

We are located on 29 acres in Frederick County, MD conveniently off Route 15. We proudly serve Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia.

Early Booking Discount

We will begin taking reservations in January with an introductory discount of $25 per pet for those who book a stay with us by March 31, 2026 for stays which will start by September 15, 2026.

Home Away From Home
All Inclusive Suites

Our Large Suites (75 to 140 square feet) are designed to feel like a home and include all of our services (see more information below). There's no guilt about not choosing add-ons.

Every Suite has a high exterior window for natural light and a full glass door for monitoring by our professional team.

We can accommodate 2 large dogs or 3 small dogs or 3 cats per Suite (call for 3 vs online booking). Dogs and cats cannot be together in one Suite. The first pet is full price and the remainder in each room are discounted.

Some Suites will have individual yards with a collar controlled dog door that is locked overnight. The yards will be coming in the Summer/Fall of 2026 after some grading and seeding of the yard areas can be accomplished.
Our Unique Approach
Outdoor Time
On our 29 Acre property, we have large fenced outdoor spaces and/or individual walks to run, play and sniff one household at a time. The activity is suited to meet your dog's need. There is no mixing or daycare to keep your dogs as safe as possible. We have outdoor areas that are level and close to the building for those Seniors who are less mobile.
Monitoring Collars
All our dog visitors at least 9 lbs in size will wear a Tractive health and GPS monitor throughout their stay. You will be able to login anytime to see health and activity data as well as location.
Room Cameras 24/7
Each room is equipped with a secure camera that only you and we are able to view. We also have a few public cameras in our outdoor and communal spaces. You can check in as often as you like to see how your pets are doing in their home away from home.
A Calming Space
Our goal is to reduce the stress on both your pets and you so neither is traumatized by the time apart. There is no place like home, but we strive to make Amethyst Pet Hotel a close second.
Furnishings
Each room has a Toddler bed with a waterproof cleanable mattress, waterproof dog beds with washable covers, pillows and blankets and durable Yeti bowls for food and water. We can also accommodate raised feeders if your pet needs them.
Designed for Calm
We utilized noise reducing features like furnishings, insulated ceiling and walls of each room. A full glass door and window in each room bring in natural light and our ionized HVAC with hospital grade filtration keeps the smell of other animals to a minimum. Elevated plugs provide for pheromone diffusers if needed.
Fear Free
Our entire team is required to complete Fear Free Training so we all understand dog and cat behavior. It helps us identify anxiety and help manage it during visits with us. If needed, pheromone diffusers can be placed in the room for extra help with relaxation.
Cats
Our Cat guests will have cleanable cat stands to get up to see out the window and comfy cat beds positioned on the toddler beds. One of our rooms has a bay window perfect for cats if available. Cats will be offered playtime, snuggle time and grooming if they are interested. We use stainless steel litter boxes that can be effectively sanitized between guests.
Communication & Medical
As a Veterinarian Owned and Managed luxury pet boarding facility, we have a fresh perspective on health and safety as well as the level of communication you should expect. Minor medical issues may be evaluated and treated by the owner for an additional charge. We will utilize your own veterinarian if possible or an ER if needed. Many members of our team have experience working in a veterinary setting to better monitor your pets for issues.
Food & Medicine
We encourage you to bring your pet's regular food and any supplements and medications. Many team members have experience in the veterinary field. We require medical records for any pets on medication in the case of any emergency. With our all inclusive pet hotel, there is no extra change for administering medications or your pet's own food.
Online Booking 24/7
It's easy to book with us online 24/7. You'll have a portal login for any forms to sign as well as a survey for information about your pet's personality, preferences and any medical and activity needs. We can accommodate dogs who don't like other dogs, but we cannot accommodate pets who can be aggressive to humans.
Daily Report Cards
To keep you connected to your pets during their stay with us, we provide daily report cards with information on their behavior, eating and drinking habits, bathroom habits and a couple photos and/or short videos.
